Candied Walnuts

  1. 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  2. 1/2 cup sour cream
  3. 1 tsp. vanilla
  4. 2 1/2 cup walnut halves

Bring sugar and sour cream to a boil in heavy saucepan, stirring constantly. Cook to soft-ball stage. Remove from heat. Add vanilla; beat until mixture thickens. Add nuts and stir until well coated. Turn out on greased cookie sheet and separate in individual pieces. Yield: about 1 1/2 pounds of nuts.
