Candy Cane Cookies

  1. 1/2 cup Butter (Softened)
  2. 1/2 cup Shortening
  3. 1 cup Confectioner's Sugar
  4. 1 Egg
  5. 1 1/2 tsp Almond Extract
  6. 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  7. 2 1/2 cups Flour
  8. 1 tsp Salt
  9. 10 drops Red food coloring (to color)
  10. 1/2 cups Crushed candy canes
  11. 1/2 cups Granulated sugar

Preheat to 375 Mix butter, shortening, confectioner's sugar, egg, and flavoring in large bowl. Mix in Flour and salt. Split the recipe into two even bowls and color one red. Form dough into red and white ropes, twist, and shape. Place cookies on cookies on parchment paper and bake for 9 minutes or until a very light brown. Upon removing from over, sprinkle crushed candy cane pieces and granulated sugar mix over hot cookies.
