Orange-Poppy Seed Scones

  1. 2 1/4 cups flour
  2. 1/2 cup sugar
  3. 1/4 cup poppy seeds
  4. 1 teaspoon cream tartar
  5. 3/4 teaspoon soda
  6. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  7. 1/2 cup butter
  8. 1/4 cup orange juice
  9. 1 egg
  10. 1/4 teaspoon grated orange peel

Combine dry ingredients. Cut in butter. Combine and add orange juice, egg and peel. Pat into 9-inch diameter circle on greased sheet. Cut wedges. Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes.
