Baked Beans

  1. 1 quart navy beans
  2. 8 cups water
  3. 1/2 lb. bacon
  4. 4 teaspoons salt
  5. 1/2 cup chopped onion
  6. 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  7. 1/2 cup dark molasses
  8. 1/2 cup ketchup

Soak beans over night in water. Simmer in dutch oven 30 mnutes. Fry bacon till crisp, then break up in small peices. Add seasonings and blend. Add this to the beans. Cover and simmer about 3 hours. Tilt cover and simmer to brown top. Stir occasionally so they don't stick. NOTE: Put bacon peices, onion, and seasonings in frying pan with some of the bacon drippings to blend. Enjoy! Helen Burke
